iTunes Review

She may not be the first artist from the UK's fertile grime scene to get a big record deal in the U.S., but the talented, self-described "white midget" <is the first artist from outside the States to ever be signed to Def Jam — on the basis of a single freestyle delivered in front of Nas and Jay-Z, no less. And while she may have infamously failed to get anything going in the studio with hit-makers the Neptunes while working on this two-years-in-the-making-album, she can clearly craft catchy and minimalist bleepy-bloopy, electro-hop songs all on her own. The drawback with the wait of course is that fans will know half the tracks already, from when they were released as singles or on the 5-foot-1, young rapper's website. But even the topical, banging, Chingy-biting "Random" sounds no less relevant or awesome a few years later. She knows how to rock a beat like Missy Elliott, though for all her ego-driven angst and self-deprecating banter, a better comparison might be Eminem. A few tunes fall flat, but Lady Sovereign's debut is a nimble, slang-and-stunner overall; she's arguably (easily) the biggest hip-hop talent to emerge from the UK since Mike "Streets" Skinner.

Oh yeaaah!

Personally i really enjoy her! Shes so unique! Think about it, how many young, short, white, british, female rappers can you name? Mmhmm... She has fast, bass filled beats, a strong voice and either humours or cute lyrics. Shes real creative! Its not like hearing the same thing over and over again. I can seriously listen to her songs all day. Shes talented and fun to listen to!!! Ever since i first heard her music, i have been waiting to hear the whole album! its real GOOD! Normally i listen to metal, rock, alt and some rap but this appealed to me. You NEED to get this album!!! You'll be so missing out if you don't! so GET IT =] You won't reget it! GO!

Love or her or hate her!

This album is pure fun! I love Lad Sov, and her fun & witty attitude. Theres no reason to not like this album, all of the tracks are catchy and will get you moving. If you already love "Love Me or Hate Me", then don't hesitate to get this album, because you'll love it!

Amazing CD!!

Lady Sovereign is such an amazing artist. The first time I heard her, I was so impressed. Public Warning is a great CD which totally captures Lady Sovereign's personality. Here is my take on the songs: 1. 9 to 5. Wow, this song really reminds me of the good old 90's! It's a great buy and has such a funky sound that just makes you want to dance. 2. Gatheration. A pretty cool song. It's fun, and really good for hip hop. 3. Random. The next single. I was going crazy for this song. It's awesome and funny! 4. Public Warning. The song this album is named after. This is such a cool song with some great little mixes in it that make the song even better. 5. Love Me or Hate Me. The song everyone knows L.S. for! It was a great to start out, and it surprises me that even after all the times I've played it, I'm still not sick of it! A great buy! 6. My England. Good song. Not the best track on the album but it's still really sweet. 7. Tango. This song to me has a much different vibe than every other track. This is more rock than hip hop, it might be considered much more rude than the other songs and it appeals to a bit of a different crowd, but I still adore it. 8. A Little Bit of Shhh. Now, here is where I personally find the weak point in the CD. Definetely not my favorite song. It's really pretty peculiar and I've really never cared for it, but hey, maybe someone else likes it more than me. Maybe it's just my personal taste. 9. Hoodie. OMG. This is SUCH a fun song! I love it to death, and it's a great song for slumber parties. It will get anyone dancing!! 10. Those Were the Days. This is such an amazing song. It's more of a soft and heartfelt song, but it's got just the right amount of hip hop in it to have just the right temperment. 11. Blah Blah. A pretty cool song. It's fun and has maybe the most actual rap in it than any other track. 12. Fiddle With the Volume. I don't listen to this song extremely often, but when I do, it's really quite good. 13. Love Me or Hate Me (Remix). Love Me or Hate Me with a cool twist on it, featuring Missy Elliott, who I happen to love, so it makes this song really great and cool. 14. Love Me or Mate Me (Video). I love this video. It makes me laugh everytime I watch it. The hapster is the bomb and makes the video!! In all, this CD is awesome, and I suggest everyone buy it if they like a great mix of hip hop that they can dance to! Great job Lady Sovereign!!

The self-proclaimed "biggest midget in the game," MC Lady Sovereign has an unmistakably British delivery and style, but a string of singles showcasing her sly wit and brash charisma over bottom-heavy beats brought on a worldwide buzz. Born Louise Harman, Sovereign was raised in northwest London's notorious Chalkhill Estate, a public housing project known for being especially rough and ragged. Although she admits her upbringing could get dangerous or depressing in these surroundings, Sovereign focused...
