Album Review

O3 displays a techno act with something of a heart and focus (plus a real drummer from time to time). While the energy level does get pumped from time to time, the accent is more on solid song design and upfront female vocals that do more than provide just another element of the mixes, putting this firmly into the Deee-Lite camp. Highlights are the singles "Love U More," "Perfect Motion" and a Marianne Faithfull cover of "Broken English."

5 stars???? I know, I know.......

....and I doubt anyone who wasn't into this record when it was originally released in '93 will be able to understand any of it - beyond the hit single “Love U More” - let alone all the twinkling stars. It's like when you get an 80's greatest hits collection and you know all of the tracks but one and that one track you've never even heard. Here you are in '06 and the unknown 80's song sounds silly and sad and you're sure that had you heard it in the 80's you would've hated it then too. Guess what, you wouldn't have. You would’ve loved it just like the tracks you bought the record for. It's the same with this Sunscreem record. This specific type of early/mid 90’s Euro-dance music that was kicking at the time (think Technotronic, The Shamen and pieces of Utah Saints) was a bit more simple, tons of piano, anti-house beats, repetition and intentional synth riff bravado. I wore this record out at the time and I have never stopped listening to it in the last 13 years. With her crisp yet misty vocals delivering well-constructed lyrical paths, tight percussion arrangements and almost early trance repetition, it was a record that my and I crew worshipped, couldn't get enough of and still get on our feet to when it's played. Buy it, put it on in the background for a few weeks and there is no doubt you'll begin to understand my shimmering rating. Enjoy! Long live

My first introdution to electronica.

I had this CD when it came out, but I lost it along time ago. I'm glad iTunes has given me the oppurtunity to enjoy a classic again. Lucia Holm's vocals are what captured me. The album has a lot of energy and is packed full of club anthems.

WOW it's here! and i spelled it right finally.

I bought this one and Beloved's Conscience on the same day in college early Spring 1993 and wow this is a really awesome CD (OUT OF PRINT!) and lost by many, incl. me. This helps define electronica in the 90's! Very inventive stuff that had the balls to come out when Techno (Speed Racer, James Brown is Dead, Twilight Zone) ruled the clubs. Close your eyes and think of your 1993 underground party, but throw away the hooded flannels. Just amazing!
