Identity Crisis

First of all, I really hope I wake up tomorrow morning and that “Beautiful Drug” was just a terrible joke from pop hell.

The identity crisis here, contained within the theme of Jekyll and Hyde, is: Are they musicians, or are they businessmen? They chose 60% businessmen and 40% musicians on this album (explaining my rating). I’d give it a 5/10 if I could, neither good nor bad to go along with the theme. Dr. Jekyll suffered from an identity crisis. Crisis is the key word. I know concept albums are a thing of the past due to things like iTunes and Spotify, but that doesn’t mean literally fit 5 different genres into one album.

ZBB’s work used to have a flow to it. I used to seek refuge in Zac Brown Band from all of the terrible pop country that fills headphones around me, and I even hear some of that on this album.

The truth

Calm down folks. ZBB was NEVER supposed to fit into one genre of the music business. They kinda got pigeon holed with their first album but the truth is they can do it all and do it all really well. This album is proof of that. They tackle most music styles and put their own personal spin on them all. I think we'd all be happier if we stopped being concerned with what category your favorite musicians fall into and more concerned with weather or not the product is honest and this album is an incredible effort to produce great music, period.
I understand the "it's not country" concerns but why does that matter? If it moves your soul, that's all that matters. If you want "real" country, it is out there to be found. There is no point in damning a band for playing great music regardless of the label you want to cover it up with. ZBB, like many of the new country artists, were influenced by numerous musical styles and it shows up all over this album.

For MUSIC lovers

This is an album for true MUSIC lovers! ZBB's artistic ability and talent are miles above anything else that's out there right now. Everyone can have an opinion and I respect that but the "this isn't country" comments annoy me. The album is called "Jekyll + Hyde", the title tells you the theme of the album. If you like for bands to put out the same album over and over again then go listen to nickleback, luke bryan, or any other bro-country artists. People always want to pigeon-hole a band into one genre but ZBB's natural talent doesn't allow for that. The art of an album is lost these days but not with ZBB! I love when bands expand their musical ability and show you what they can really do! Thank you for the eargasm, ZBB!!! Amazing album!
