EDITORS’ NOTES

A 20-year-old working in a hardware store while recording this debut EP of spacey R&B, Kiiara has been scoring hot-and-heavy blog posts since calling-card single “Gold” emerged in June 2015. The hype was justified: “Gold” is at once spare and frenetic, its crisp beat serene while Kiiara’s chopped-up vocals create a jagged melody. Elsewhere, “Feels” is a pirouetting slice of dream-pop, the fevered “Tennessee” takes things to the club, while “Hang up tha Phone”’s coiled after-hours electronica hits the emotional bull's eye.
