Traveling circus/bandcamp follies-tap dancing percussion, tuba, euphonium...its like that sound you heard in high school when you sauntered by the auditorium/stage where some bandies and theatre hounds had a free-flowing jamsession/thespian/stage show thing going on-you didn't get it then, but I sure do now. These lads and ladies are original, which is hard to find in the indie world.
"A reason to fall in love with music again..."
"A reason to fall in love with music again..." is one review I read that lead me to check this out further. I first heard them on a Paste Magazine sampler, then I saw them in Nashville and now I'm HOOKED. Excellent songwriting, imaginitive arrangements, insightful lyrics and playful delivery make this a joy to hear. My favorite lyrics: "As I slept I dreamt a god in his heaven. He kinda looked like Morrissey--no, he looked like Cher in a dramatic pose and a sequined gown proclaiming a cosmos of calibrated celestial pop stars: a pitch-corrected universe" - from "Miranda Rights" "Sweetheart, sweetheart tell me "yes", do you love me more than your fear of death?" --from "As I Lay Dying" "In my youth I survived my own stupidity and cultivated it to something grand, and called it "daring" -- from "Drivin' by the Penitentiary" There is much more to delve into here. Happy delving.
