iTunes Review

The rootsy and cutesy "I'm Yours" is an obvious choice for first single with it's reggae rhythms, doo-wop harmonies, electric jazz piano, and lyrics endearing enough to theme a high school prom, and then there's the all too perfect waltzing "Beautiful Mess" which could have been written for the sole purpose of slow dancing in a rented tux.

Wow. I

I knew this album was going to be great before I bought it; the EPs were exciting and beautiful, and the prospect of the stripped versions' studio counterparts made the wait for May 13th unbearable. Nothing could have prepared me for this album, though. Through his brilliant rhythmic rhymes, lush melodies, and gorgeous orchestrations, Mr. A-Z dazzles throughout, leaving skeptic and enthusiast speechless and pining for more. The live sessions can never get old next to these recordings, which seem to revitalize the "old" EP cuts and contextualize them. As tempting as it is to pick out specific tracks like "I'm Yours," "Lucky," and "The Dynamo of Volition," just buy the whole album -- you won't regret it for a second; in fact, you'll probably feel like you should have paid more. Bravo, Mr. Mraz. My personal favorites are "Lucky," "Details in the Fabric," "If It Kills Me," and "A Beautiful Mess."

This album is a perfect evolution of Jason's talent. There is something on here that everybody can enjoy. His guest artists, Colbie Caillat and James Morrison, fit wonderfully in both "Lucky" and "Details In the Fabric", which is rare since most guest artists today are for radio attention only. "Coyotes" and "The Dynamo of Volition" include his musically new strides, but Jason does not come up short. "Love for a Child" is a beautiful track that is reminiscent of songs from his early days. This is a great addition to any music collection. This is a must buy album!

Stellar mix of insightful lyrics, compelling hooks, and soulful sounds

Mraz never fails to deliver, whether it's a live show or a new album. We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things is no exception. He's simply one of the most creative & original artists of our time. (Check out his website at if you want more proof) Lots of great collaborations on this album, including a gospel chorus, James Morrison & Colbie Caillat) I'm Yours, Lucky, Make it Mine, Live High, & If It Kills Me will draw you in the first time you hear them. I actually enjoyed the less producing (unplugged) live sessions more then the original tracks. Details in the Fabric is another 5 star song. Mraz's music is easy on the ears, but challenging to your mind if you pay attention to the double meanings and subtle inferences on almost every track. He's a creative genuis with a unique gift and this album is 100% worth the purchase price. Listen and enjoy...
