His career-spanning collaboration with Tim Burton and a long string of superhero-fueled soundtrack successes make it easy to under-imagine what a Danny Elfman work will sound like. But his resume is also dotted with many lesser known musical jewels — his scores for Black Beauty and Instinct, for instance — and this intimate, effervescent score for director Gary Winnick's update of E.B. White's enduring fable for children of all ages quickly distinguishes itself. The composer's love of 20th century Russian classicism still occasionally bubbles to the surface here, but it's folded into a much richer and varied melange of influences that range from the minimalist-tinged title music to downright folksy charms and gentle string and wind concoctions that recall similar contemporary pastoral work by Rachel Portman — and even the more subdued impressionistic adventures of Thomas Newman. Star Dakota Fanning vocalizes briefly on the lilting "Lullaby," while Sarah MacLachlan's stately take on the Dave Stewart/Glen Ballard ballad "Ordinary Miracle" rises above most similarly tacked-on Hollywood pop music gambits.
Magical and Enchanting!
Danny Elfman's latest score is a sure fire masterpiece! If you know of the other films, or the book, and picture this score, it totally fits. Dakota Fanning's little piece is perfect. It's great that she is now singing in films! I have been a fan of Danny Elfman's music for years, and have seen his growth. The first piece of his that made me cry was Serenada Schizophrena. This one is the second, and first movie score. As well, "Ordinary Miracle" is inspiring! I think it great that I found a hair of theme from "The Corpse Bride" in here! A little Corpse mixed with a little pig? Why not?! Yes, it can be argued that Danny Elfman's music may sound similar from album to album in many ways. It's within some the slight differences that genius can be found. This album is definitely for the classical music, or movie score lover!
sweet!! I love bacon!!!
Yay charlottes web!! This is a pretty good album, and i like the MuSic, its all calm and relaxing!! 5 StarS
The musical scores for movies are usually the best. The Charlotte's Web score is no different! Besides the score, Sarah McLachlan's "Ordinary Miracle" is wonderful too. Worth the buy if you're into a soundtrack that isn't all popular hit songs.
