likely the very best...
If you love Madama Butterfly, but don't have time to listen to the whole opera, this excerpt version is an excellent choice -- packed with its best arias. And it was this excellent version, conducted by Herbert von Karajan, that was famously used in the movie FATAL ATTRACTION. Michael Douglas' character, talking to Glenn Close's character about the opera's final scene as this spectacular music plays in the background mimics what will soon happen in the movie. Anyone who didn't love Madama Butterfly before will likely find these seductive arias and their crystal clear performances undeniably attractive!
What more could you possibly want?
Mirella Freni and the unrivaled Luciano Pavarotti singing one of the most beautiful operas ever written. What more could you possibly want? I just love the Humming Chorus ~ can't hear it without picturing a tranquil, Japanese garden. And Freni preforms the final aria to perfection. You can hear the heartbreak in every note. I adore this opera from beginning to end, and this is a lovely condensed version. If you're new to opera, this is a wonderful place to start. You might also want to check out Pavarotti singing "Nessun Dorma" (from the opera Turandot). But honestly, you can't go wrong with anything that features Freni and Pavarotti.
