I Heart Toni

...but these mixes are way over-produced. I'm hoping that the pt. 2 mixes are better. Theez aren't bad; just not as good as the song. And ps: Where are the Yesterday remixes?!?!

Got to love Aqua Diva's mixes.

by far the best set of remixes for Make My Heart

for whatever reason, Atlantic was inclined to commission a ton of remixes for this song, and while I'm glad they were so hellbent on marketing it to house music fans I have to say that the results are largely hit-or-miss. this EP has most of the "hits" on it, and there's nary a bad mix in the bunch.

Dario Carminita and Andrea Corelli's remixes are my favorites - they take the song a darker route and it works really, really well.

Justin Michael & Kemal's mixes are a little basic, but passable, even if the synths in the chorus are just a little too loud.

Chris Malinchak's remix is excellent - he switches it up with a nice light progressive-house mix that gives Make My Heart a completely new complexion. short and to the point too.

Aqua Diva's set of mixes isn't necessarily bad from a technical standpoint, but the sound of it grates on me. I think they were trying to go for a David Guetta-meets-bigroom sound, and the result is messy.

Anthony Louis & Andrea Monta's sole contribution to this set is pretty standard, but it's not bad.

to close out the EP, DJ Kharma's remixes give the song a bit of a tribal-electro touch similar to the sound of Karmatronics, and again, it's pretty standard, but very clubby and the production is great.

all in all this isn't a terrible EP by any means, especially compared to Part 2. I recommend the Carminita/Corelli & Malinchak remixes.

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Toni Braxton was one of the most popular and commercially successful female R&B singers of the '90s, thanks to her ability to straddle seemingly opposite worlds. Braxton was soulful enough for R&B audiences, but smooth enough for adult contemporary; sophisticated enough for adults, but sultry enough for younger listeners; strong enough in the face of heartbreak to appeal to women, but ravishing enough to nab the fellas. Wielding such broad appeal, Braxton managed to score not one, but two albums...
