Editors’ Notes

Christian music veteran Phil Keaggy has become legendary for his one-man-band performances at churches and coffeehouses over the years. Live at Kegworth Studio finds this gifted singer/songwriter utilizing the same sound-loop technology he uses onstage to create intricately overlaid guitar and vocal textures. Reaching back to the start of his 40 years as a solo artist, Keaggy offers such landmark Jesus Music–era songs as “What a Day” and “Your Love Broke Through,” as well as more recent compositions like “A Sign Came Through a Window” and “The True Believers.” Rock-tinged numbers like “Salvation Army Band” fit easily with contemplative folk tunes like “This Heart Is Yours.” He pays homage to The Beatles with a luminous cover of “Here Comes the Sun” and tips his cap to Bob Dylan on a heartfelt take of “To Make You Feel My Love.” The instrumentals “Legacy” and “Shades of Green” let him interweave delicately fingerpicked guitar lines into finely wrought mosaics of sound. Through it all, Keaggy reaffirms his unshakable Christian faith.

A Seat In Keaggy's Home Studio - Live

Phil cranks up his home studio and plays the songs that are the fan favorites in his current concert appearances, circa 2011. It's like sitting on the front row because he recorded it all "live" and simply had his recorder running. The style is free and improvised as in a live concert with just Phil and his Jam Man and other gear. I love it. Shades of Green is amazing. How can someone master the looping so seamlessly and make it sound so complex and musical. I've seen this magic live in concert where 1000 fans hardly breathe for two hours because you don't want to miss hearing anything and you simply can't believe it's all coming from a single acoustic guitar.

Keaggy is Phenomenal...

Amazing this guy isn't better known! He's the best guitar player I've ever heard and a voice to match!!!!

Simply amazing!

I've had the pleasure of hearing Phil in concert and I am mesmerized by his style to the point of not moving a muscle. This album captures that same intensity and beauty. Every selection is crystal clear and perfectly mastered. Kudos to Phil and the production team. Well done!
