iTunes Review

A fast-rising, spiritually minded vocalist/producer from Savannah, Ga., Mali Music (real name Kortney Jamaal Pollard) got his start playing keyboards in church and began recording in his home studio at age 15. After building a dedicated online following, he released several independent albums (The Coming, 2econd Coming) and was soon performing at big-time events like the BET Awards and the Essence Music Festival. His major-label debut, Mali Is..., showcases his well-balanced artistry: a compelling mix of singing, rapping, relentlessly positive lyricism, and breezy, well-produced beats. Fusing modern hip-hop, R&B, pop, and gospel, he presents listeners with a dozen tracks mostly about life and love, interspersed with messages of faith. As he proclaims over hypnotic synths and horns on "Make It to Heaven": "In the circle so much I'm nauseous/I'm so sick of materialistic nonsense/So I made a whole disc of hits/Mali is/Making the dead rise/Live/Consciousness." It's an impressive effort. Don't miss "Heavy Love," "Royalty," and the Bob Marley–esque "One."

Love, love, LOVE this Man of God!!!

I've never pre-ordered anything EVER until this! "Mali is..." The greatest solo contemporary gospel/soul artist I have ever come across. His 2009 album, The Second Coming, has gotten me thru plenty of encounters where spiritual warfare was required and I still to this day worship to that album as if it just hit the scene. He released a few songs off of this new album a few months ago like, "Heavy Love" and "No Fun Alone" and from that moment in listening to those few records I couldn't wait for him to release that project. Fan isn't even the word... I adore this man's artistry. It is indeed given by Our Creator's mouth and anointed by His Hand all together. In my opinion, everyone should have @malimusic in their catalog... He definitely has something nourishing to sing about!

on a mission

this album is a complete CLASSIC from beginning to end.. i just want to address all the naysayers that keep attacking Mali simply because his genre says "R&B soul" and not "Gospel" as if that changes the fact HES STILL A CHRISTIAN.. he's doing EXACLY what christians are suppose to do ENGAGE THE WORLD and CULTURE and you can't do it in the confines of the four walls of church ..if your not out there getting your hands dirty you need to sit down and let those that are do what GOD put in them to do.. the WORLD needs more mali music's to influence them and inspire them …not just caged in the church singing to the same few members who don't appreciate and suppress artist such as him anyway please get more MATURE in your listening sections and learn to pick the meat from the bones…and as far as the GENIUS album it single handily touched EVER genre of music while touching meaningful subjects dope story telling and i still heard the gospel in it ..i hope to one day do a joint.. or 9 lol with you mali to thine own self be true fam we need it...

Love it

Mali music is my favorite male gospel artist.. I love every song.. Awesome album
