iTunes Review

Bucky Covington’s sophomore album arrived over five years following his eponymous 2007 debut. In that time some of his fans graduated both high school and college. But anyone familiar with Covington from the fifth season of American Idol might remember a guy who was having too much fun singing country music to worry about career strategies. This sunny and carefree attitude abounds throughout Good Guys starting with the opening “I Wanna Be That Feeling” — a winsome and uplifting country-pop hit with gratuitous pedal steel and Covington’s warm tenor breaking up in all the right spots. More traditional country sounding instruments surface in the following ballad, “I’m Alright,” but they sound best when kicking up some dust in the outstanding honky-tonk rocker “Drinking Side Of Country,” where Covington duets with Waylon Jennings’ son Shooter. And after hearing Covington perform the definitive version of Nickelback’s “Gotta Be Somebody,” it’s easy to believe that his voice was meant to sing rock songs. But then he goes and takes on Lionel Richie’s “Sail On” and it’s evident that his range is more versatile.

Fantastic Collection...Buy It!

The long wait is over! Bucky is back with a memorable, varied collection of piercing ballads and rockin' country on this, his second album release. You believe what he sings here, and as I am listening to each track, I can't help but think these tunes deserve to be on the radio in heavy rotation, sailing up the country charts. I could rave on about all of these tunes...but I will say that I just got goose bumps listening to "I Want My Life Back". "I Want To Be That Feeling" and "Drinking Side of Country", his most recent, popular single releases should fuel big sales of this album. I have been buying all genres of music for decades, and this is some fine stuff! His voice wrapped around these lyrics speaks to the heart, unlike so much of the cookie cutter junk on country radio these days. The arrangements are sharp and he has some strong songs here that pack a real emotional punch and some that are just flat out clever and fun to listen to! Just what the party ordered if you want some up tempo, pumping tunes as well as providing a fitting, emotional backdrop for a broken heart, this is a finely produced collection that deserves to be heard from one of the most talented, perhaps underrated, former American Idols. Thank God, and his new record company, that he hung in there and we finally get to hear this! Go Bucky!

Good for You, Bucky!

This young man seems to get better and better. For one thing, he doesn't seem to try to make his voice all Country-fied and sing all sexy songs like some of the newer artists these days--they come across as trying too hard to be something. Bucky just seems natural. He has become one of my favorite male Country singers.

A Father's Love is by far my favorite song on this album! His cover of Nickelback's Gotta Be Somebody is really good too considering how bad Nickelback is
