Timeless Masterpiece !

These recording by Bamboula Ferret and Fapy Laftertin are nearly mythical in the Gypsy Jazz community. Bootleg copies were lovingly shared among aficionados for years. Why they were never officially released is a long story in and of itself, but now the wait is over. It's with great pleasure and honor that I am able to pay for these songs and show my long-overdue respect to the artists who created them. I've spent many a soothing summer nights entranced by these beautiful songs. Bamboula's gentle voice wraps delicately around each song, and while sadly Bamboula passed away a few years ago, his Gypsy soul lives on in these special recordings. Fapy, undisputedly one of the greatest living Gypsy guitarists in the mode of Django Reinhardt, has never sounded better. Each song contains at least two to three choruses of his guitar work where he usually states the melody in the first then weaves a magical tapestry of arpeggios in the second and third. I believe Bamboula was Fapy's uncle, and Fapy's love and respect for him shows clearly in every note he plays. In Paris they have a drink called a panache, half lemonade and half beer. I look forward to tonight's cooling air so I can sit on the deck, listen to these recordings, and toast a panache to Fapy and Bamboula and their timeless masterpiece.
