Next Step for UM

Mantis is marbled with multiple textures and flavors, but seems to hold a very dark and paranoid affection. There is a lot going on here and it can seem overwhelming, which is why one may recommend multiple listens. Once the esteem ha really sunk in, you are greeted by another aspect: "these guys are a live band! They are going to play these songs live!" Already imagining how Umphrey's will pull these songs off on the stage has left me sucking my thumb and quivering naked on the bathroom floor. The possibilities seem endless and uncanny. Sweet Jebus.

A Natural Step Forward

Umphrey's continues to be not only the most talented act in their genre, but in my opinion one of the most musically talented young bands gigging today. And thematically this album is a step forward, emphasizing the more serious elements of the band. Very complex arrangements, virtuoistic performances, lyrics centering around pain and struggle, this album is a darker foray into a veteran jam band's minds. Buy it!

sick

You can hear the amount of time and energy these guy's put into this album. Outstanding!!
