Man On the Moon, Vol. II succeeds not just on the basis of its vivid interior descriptions. It’s easy for an artist to act morose — Cudi’s talent is that he makes it listenable. Even when the songs turn bleak — and the final seven songs are downright chilling — the music remains inviting., brimming with intricate detail and unique tones.
The Scott Mescudi Experiece
As soon as you hear the opening track of Cudi’s new piece of work you will realize that this is truly something different, something that feels comfortably alike his typical style, yet entirely fresh. Dark is one way to describe this album, and one that Cudders has used himself, with its all to familiar slow soul-felt tempo and unique blends of deep, catchy backdrops. But, here we find a cleaner more focused production, that is not saying that our buddy Kid Cudi isn’t afraid to push the envelope into another dimension at times.
MOTM II is more than your run of the mill collection of singles thrown together on an album. Much like MOTM I’s inspiring and personal journey through the dreams of Cudi’s, this is an experience that is best represented as a whole. And what an experience it is. For many of the same reasons that Jimi Hendrix was called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, I tend to refer to listening to Cudi’s stuff as an EXPERIENCE. And anyone who has a past of driving around at night listening to the Pursuit of Happiness knows exactly what I am getting at. Here on MOTM II, Descudi expresses himself ust as fluently with the music he provides as he does with his deep and from the heart lyrics. Feelings of the dark sides of youth can be heard and felt yourself as soon as the almost disturbingly simple and melancholy beats of “Wild’n Cuz I’m Young” kick in. Kid Cudi takes a bold risk with this album, one that should be realized and understood. Cudi certainly has the ability to make an album full of singable and danceable, radio-friendly songs, as seen with “Erase Me,” which would probably lead to great commercial success. However, he has chosen another path. Scott Descudi has decided to truly attempt to make a piece of musical art, one that fully embodies his own deep, fun yet darkness obsessed personality. Cudi succeeds in this, while providing some extremely entertaining and enjoyable music. Due yourself a favor, take part in The Scott Mescudi Experience.

MOTM II > Kanye's Album
Not impressed at all with Mr. Rager. Found it very boring and there are few songs I would look forward to listening to again. Sorry Cudi, you're still the man but this album was disappointing.
