iTunes Review

Could this be the ultimate deluxe single-track package? Here’s an entire album’s worth of remixes: 10 different versions of “Marry the Night.” The Zedd remix starts with a hypnotic mantra of four-on-the-floor beats pulsing along a squeaky keyboard tone before pausing to let the song’s house leanings seep in with GaGa’s vocal track. When the big distorted bass comes in, this version takes on a life of its own. Sander van Doorn’s reworking starts similarly, with isolated beats pounding under the gradual swell of keyboards and vocals; it peaks with an early-‘90s underground rave-party blowout. The R3hab Remix is a solid standout. It turns the bottom-end tones into speaker-blowing blasts before pumping exaggerated acid-house piano into equal parts retro rave and future funk. Danny Verde’s rhythmic retooling closes the collection.

But it wasn't just a cult that turned her 2008 manifesto The Fame into a self-fulfilling prophecy: Gaga crossed over into...
