Album Review

If you didn't know any better, by just listening to the beginning of Machinemade God's 2007 release, Masked, you'd think that you're in for an album of the proggiest prog metal. But be careful — there's a metal behemoth lurking around the corner. Thus is the case throughout the album — the aforementioned track ("Forgiven"), as well as "With You," which includes both death metal screaming and melodic crooning (as well as a Tool-esque spoken word part that comes in from out of nowhere). And just when you think you have this German band figured out, along come calm and cool instrumentals like "Who, If Not Us?" and "Even Though You're Gone." But despite these momentary lapses, Machinemade God are true metalheads — take such vintage Metallica ragers as "Damage Inc." or "Dyers Eve" and crank them up a few more notches, and you'll have an idea of what "For Those Who Care" and "Vengeance" sound like. Make no mistake about it — Machinemade God's Masked contains some mighty fierce metal.

Whadd'ya Know?

I had only heard of these guys, and had almost bought their previous album, but this one is far better. This is seriously awesome metalcore with a little death metal in the mix. A lot of the time, they remind me of Killswitch Engage with a darker vibe (plenty of pinch harmonics!) If you like Killswitch, As I Lay Dying, Dead to Fall, All That Remains, Unearth etc, check out this album!

German Killswitch Engage!!

Man I really dig this album! I was worried about downloading it, but I am glad now that I did. Sure they are a Killswitch copycat. But what the heck is wrong with that? As a matter of fact, a few hours after I downloaded it, a friend of mine walked by my office…stopped…then came in and asked “Is this the new Killswitch?” this cd is rock solid boys and girls; these guys are talented as h*ll! Every song flows nicely and the album really comes together. If you like (or love) Killswitch, I HIGHLY recommend this band. I researched Machinemade God, it turns out these guys are German from Essen, Germany. So they are our German Killswitch counterparts. Let’s show them some support and download their latest; you won’t regret it! There is not one bad song on the album! Rick Reulecke Colorado Springs, CO

Another top notch album...

Wow...that's the first thing I thought when I listened to this album and compared it to The Infinity Complex. Their first was a great debut, but this just blows it away. It's packed with a lot more hooks and riffs that make the album as a whole much more interesting than TIC. Without a doubt 5 star metal here, buy it now!
