As baroque was meant to be heard

The trouble with baroque music is that it was rediscovered during the height of the romantic era. Romantic composers arranging baroque music for their orchestras did so with romantic sensibilities. Sometimes they even marked up the original scores with slur markings, crecendo, decrecendo etc, etc. In other words, baroque music is not supposed to be the heavy, plodding sound we've all come to know, it's supposed to be light with its beauty in its precision, not in its hugeness (don't get me wrong, romantic hugeness is great for romantic music). It's supposed to dance across the floor in high heels and a powdered wig. The director of this recording, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, understands this and the recording is wonderful, like nothing you've ever heard before.

it's not that bad

The music is just so great but long! People complain that this mass is out of order when it's downloaded; heres the solution: go to File>Preferences (CTRL ,) then in the preferences go to the Advanced tab and check the box that says "keep iTunes library organized. Also when you click on the "Recently Added" playlist it's all downloaded there in the way it is presented here in the store.

Founded by John Eliot Gardiner, the group regularly performs throughout England and Europe. It has given a number of concerts in two London halls, the Barbican and St. John's Smith Square.
