Great Album

Love this album. I have always been a fan of Gregorian Chants. Sadness, Pt. 1 is not like the original...IT'S BETTER!!! Love the rock feel to it. I also Love the cover!! Great Job!!

Finally available on i-tunes!!

I have been a fan of Gregorian since their original "Masters of Chant" album was released in 2000.
This is really a sampling of some of the songs from their 8 European releases. Gregorian was founded by Frank Peterson, who is probably best known for producing most of Sarah Brightman's albums, as well as being one of the founding members of Enigma (along with Michael Cretu).

I would hardly call this a "best of", as I feel this is a rather poor choice of songs for a compilation. The only song here which I think truly belongs is "Moment of Peace", which has the female vocals sung by Sarah Brightman.

If you can find the original CD's (many of which are now out of print), they're really a much better option. The "Masters of Chant" series now has six volumes; "The Dark Side" delves into material from Evanescence to Nine Inch Nails to Rammstein; and then there is "Christmas Chants", which (in my opinion) is one of the most beautiful holiday albums ever done.

I rate this collection five stars ONLY because I feel that they're a very noteworthy group with some stunning interpretations of both classic and contemporary pop songs; I just wish more of them were represented here...

Gregorian Masters of Chant

Gregorian Chant has nothing to do with Armenian anything-you should have stayed awake in school. And to pissant whatever, because we like this particular music does not make us idiots, open your bloody mind.

Great music. I enjoy it alongside of the original masters.

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s

One of the most successful pop/classical fusion projects, Gregorian mixes well-known pop and rock songs with Gregorian chants. Overseen by producer Frank Peterson, co-founder of Michael Cretu's Enigma outfit, Gregorian's first album, Masters of Chant, released in 1999 (an early 1991 Peterson album released under the name Gregorian isn't counted among the group's official releases, but already employs the same aesthetic), became a smash hit throughout Europe, entering the Top Ten in nine different...
