They just crush it. The girl who first introduced me to cursive right after this album first came out said something like, "you have to be careful with these guys, they'll affect you." It's true and the caution is warranted. Not easy listening, as regards existential angst. The feeling isn't nestalgia, it's, "did my life turn out like these songs because I listened to them too many times in my formative years? Should I maybe stop listening to them?"

One of the best albums ever, plus at least one additional contender for best song ever ("excerpts...").

This is EXACTLY what I needed. Listening to this reminds me of being 17 again, but more importantly, it reminds me of how to feel. Thank you, Cursive. I know you wanna be cool, but thanks for giving me some semblance of angsty, teenage emotion back; I need it.

An Album That Has Never Left My Top 5

I remember being introduced to Cursive back when I was in middle school. I had never heard anything quite like them, and still haven’t. Very happy to see The Ugly Organ remastered with a few extra tracks. Highly recommend this album and band for their unparalleled lyricism and gratifyingly unique musical compositions.
