iTunes Review

The austere beauty and spiritual depth of The Brilliance’s self-titled debut makes it a standout among worship music releases. David Gungor and John Arndt (members of Christian folk/rock unit Gungor) explore profound scriptural themes with a sensibility rooted in classical music and traditional hymnody. Acoustic piano and guitar-centered arrangements help sustain a mood of unguarded reverence. Songs like “Hands and Feet,” “Wounded Healer,” and “Mercy” are starkly powerful meditations on the mysteries of life, death, and faith. The reverent joy of “Christ Is Risen” and “May the Lord” adds some upbeat energy to this mostly contemplative set.

Proud big brother

Sure, I may be a little biased since David is my brother and all.. But this album is my favorite worship album in a long time. Musically rich, theologically brave, and emotionally honest. David, John, Rob and everybody else... Really well done guys, I'm proud of you.

Fresh and Brilliant.

I love this record top to bottom. Innovative. Finally something in this genre that sounds DIFFERENT... I feel it.

Why don't more people write music like this?

FInally, music that doesn't make Christians seem uncultured and dumb. Beautiful.
