All Hale Damian!

Yo I'm a teenager and none of my friends listen to reggae, but i can't get enough of it. Damian Marley is so awesome. He is easily in my top three favorit artists. If you like the stuff on this album check out the songs more justice, and catch a fire, their soooo awesome. Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley RULES!

Great first album!

This album may be new to iTunes, but it was Damian's first release back in '96. His brother, Stephen, assists in the writing and singing of many tracks and he also produced the album. Many songs are also Bob Marley tracks - reworked and remixed. It's a solid first album and better than his second release, Halfway Tree, in my opinion. Stephen's raspy vocals and Damian's slick dancehall style compliment each other well. These two have worked together on all of Damian's and Stephen's album releases and I really hope they continue on this path. Their most recent album releases (Damian's Welcome to Jamrock & Stephen's Mind Control) plus subsequent concert tours were outstanding.

Brings me back to the 90's...

When Damian released this album in 1996, the songs were already a few years old. I remember seeing him in 1993 and 1994, and the songs were much better live. This LP is a freshman effort, however I feel the strength lies in Jr's DJ'ing and Steven's producing. We have not heard the best from Damian the Divine, he's a very talented musician as well as burgeoning prophet. I feel he is the oldest soul of all the Marley boys. Halfway Tree and Welcome to Jamrock were the starting ground. He'll be around for a long time.

Damian Marley was only two when his father died, but the youngest of the Marley sons must have learned something. At the age of 13, he formed his first band, the Shepherds, which also included the son of Third World's Cat Coore and the daughter of Freddie McGregor; the group even opened up the 1992 Reggae Sunsplash festival. By 1994, Damian was working on his own solo project, and with the help of his father's label, Tuff Gong, he recorded Mr. Marley. Also lending a familial air to the sessions was...
