iTunes Review

Get this album from these punk-rock stalwarts and you can also enjoy a more in-depth experience with iTunes LP (only for use on a Mac or PC with iTunes 9 or later): rock out to two exclusive audio tracks, browse photos, listen to interviews with each band member, and more. Since the early ‘90s, AFI has stayed true to its roots while adding fresh elements — from goth and glam to industrial techno and pop. AFI recruited veteran producer Joe McGrath (Green Day, Alkaline Trio) to work on its eighth album, Crash Love, and the collaboration has lit a fire deep within the California rockers that can be heard especially loud and clear on metal-shredding opener, “Torch Song,” and impassioned power ballad “It Was Mine.”

Customer Reviews

I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews about this album. A lot of people seem to be just a tad upset about the fact that this doesn't sound like Answer That And Stay Fashionable and the likes. Well for crying out loud, isn't he band allowed to evolve and grow? This album is amazing, if you ask me. I absoultey love it. I haven't even listened to the whole album yet, and I'm already in love with it. Veronica Sawyer Smokes is RIDICULOUSLY catchy.

Not What I Expected

Ive been listening to AFI since 7th/8th grade and Im 27 now. This album is nothing like anything they've put out before. I love AFI, I even have a tattoo on my leg to prove it, so the first time I listened to the album I got alittle scared because I didnt recognize who they were. What I mean is that its a bit slower, abit lighter and unfortunately Davey doesnt scream very much at all. With that being said I have had the album for about six hours and have listened to it a couple of times through now, and I like it. Its worth buying, listen to it a few times through and I think youll like it to. I hope tomorrow ill love it!

What happened to these guys? AFI was the closes thing I will ever get to the misfits. Crush love seems like a step further in the wrong direction (For me) When ever I hear there this new album it kind of bums me out…but like all thing people change musically. I wouldn't say they sold out but there "New Sound" doesn't sit well with me. "In darkness together we are forming."

Formed: 1991 in Ukiah, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Although they didn't reach platinum status until 2003, hardcore punk revivalists AFI originally formed in 1991, when the band's four founding members -- vocalist Davey Havok, guitarist Markus Stopholese, bassist Vic Chalker, and drummer Adam Carson -- were attending high school in Ukiah, California. Chalker was replaced by Geoff Kresge after eight months, and the band played several local gigs and released a split 7", Dork, with fellow Ukiah natives Loose Change (a band that incidentally included...
