Album Review

Collecting some of the most iconic music in video game history, Mega Man Soundtrack, Vol. 1 compiles the score for both the Nintendo and Playstation releases of the first Mega Man game (also known as Rockman in Japan). Originally composed by Manami Matsumae, the score for the NES version pushed the console to its technical limits, which only allowed three notes to be played simultaneously. Despite these restrictions, the score for the original game is frenzied, dense, and unforgettable. Changing with the times, the songs from the Playstation re-release of the game are altogether glossier, which sacrifices some of the simple charm of the original to achieve a more robust sonic palette. Whichever you prefer, die-hard retro-gamers and chiptune enthusiasts will both find a lot to love on this compilation.

seriously? ._.

so you mean to tell me that i can download the actual game for $5 on a console, but need to pay $10 for the soundtrack most of which comes included in the game??! dont get me wrong, i love me some classic megaman jams... capcom did a better job creating soundtracks a little less than 30 years ago (dont forget, using limited sounds and keyboards and with only bieng able to play up to 3 notes at a time on the NES) than contemporary MUSIC ATRISTS create actual songs with almost unlimited resources!!! (like today's rap and what the kids call "dubstep"...) nonetheless, good job capcom, good job, it is itunes that grinds my gears...

its good
