Customer Reviews

Not as good as I had hoped.

Regardless of the departure of Mike Portnoy (which is a huge bummer) I still was really looking forward to this album. Mike O and Russell A really wrote some killer grooves , and catchy slower tunes on Omertà. This time around I am getting the sophomore jinx, the grooves aren’t as grooving or as catchy, the ballads not as memorable, and over all the lyric is sophomoric at best. I meant I don’t need anything to mature or educational but these seem so juvenile for guys approaching 50. I get it’s all about the fun of it, and just a rocking good time but I am just not feeling this one so far. Maybe it’s a grower, that’s what she said. There that could be a lyric on this one. Still love Russell’s voice, and the bass sound better on this one, but Orlando’s solo’s seem a bit repetitive and not as good as the first. Looking toward the future when I can hear Russell with Symphony X again.

SILENCE

Strong from start to finish

Regardless of whether you like their previous work a little more or not, it is still a solid album in it's own right. Definately worth the purchase.
