Mustaine Digs It!

Lord Wickenstein,

Solid traditional metal from Canada. Megadeth did an in-store appearance at the record store where I worked, Heavy Metal Unlimited, in Saginaw, MI while touring 'So Far So Good So What'. Dave bought a pile of CD's that day, and in particular, zeroed in on this Sword disc. He ripped it open and we played it several times while the band signed autographs. He sang along with 'Stoned Again', having us turn up this song several times. Great memories! Check out Sword's second release, 'Sweet Dreams', for even better metal pounders. Nice to see these albums in itunes!

Metal at it's finest

lackomar,

Not too long ago... When there were record stores, I would wander into the local "Harmony House" to browse around. One of the clerks there was always good for "Off the beaten path" suggestions, This was one she gave me. My original cassette is long since gone, Probably crushed and recycled in the back of an old Monte Carlo, but, Thank you, iTunes, I can now get this again and drive off into the night with the radio blasting. This album is great from start to finish. If '80's metal is your thing, and you're more Exodus than Extreme, If you like your power chords with a bit of Crunch, Or if you actually know who Saxon is, Get this.

About Sword

Sword was formed in Canada by brothers Mick Hughes (vocals) and Dan Hughes (drums), guitarist Mike Plant, and bassist Mike Larock in early 1985. Signing with local Aquarius Records, the band cut its solid, though hardly groundbreaking, debut Metalized in 1986. The band's sound was a muscular brand of classic metal with tasteful riffs and solos by Plant and infectious shout-along choruses. The band never made much headway south of the border, however, and split up soon after recording their sophomore album Sweet Dreams the following year. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
