Album Review

A popular contestant on the 2010 season of American Idol, Michael Lynche delivers an appealingly old-fashioned slow-burner of a quiet storm album with his eponymous 2012 debut. He kicks off the proceedings with "Crazy Gina," whose big, insistent thump proves to be one of the liveliest numbers here. Most of the rest of the album consists of cool seductive numbers, pitched somewhere between Maxwell — whose cover of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" is a centerpiece here — and Cee Lo Green at his most conventional. At its heart, the album is a seductive groove album so no songs really pop out, but the sound is good and Lynche delivers his falsetto ably.

Wow is all I can say. His style and showmanship really shine through in this album!!

Best R&B album of the year

Michael's voice definitely shines through on his album! One of the few albums actually worth buying.

Loved him on American Idol and love him even more now with his own music! Crazy Gina was by far my favorite track on the album but everything I heard is golden. Can't wait to see how successful Michael is in the future!

TRUE R&B! So in love!

This album is true to one of my favorite classy genres, R&B. The heart & soul that Michael put into these songs is out of this world. With the exception of "Crazy Gina" (which is a very fun, funky, 70s sounding groove), all of the songs are praising his girl and his love for her, which is refreshing considering the current state of most music which is demeaning and slightly careless towards love/women.

His singles are great, but I'm really in love with "Intoxicated" (a true Motown throwback), one of the upbeat tracks - "Unstoppable", and "Sex" - which is pretty much the sexiest song I have ever heard, from the breathy, husky vocals to the smooth, hard hitting, music.

This album has REAL instruments and I'm pretty sure I even heard an organ a few times; very refreshing! SO in love! Thanks Mike for making such a real album!
