Lou Pride follows his debut Twistin' the Knife with this even effort that pays the bills on the jumpy "Ace Of Spades" and wet hankies with "Deeper Shade of Blue." Pride's strident tone reminds of Sammy Ward, the late Motown bluesman, as he chews the fat on 14 cuts, a rare treat from this rarely recorded bluesman more known for performances in blues clubs and festivals than his artistry in the studio.
