Mike Schmid has built an album of tracks that is any of us at any moment in life. Whether it's dealing with relationships or the loss of a loved one to suicide, or even a pampered pet talking to it's owner, this album invokes stories we've all been through or heard about. One of the standout songs on this CD of all original material is "It Doesn't Make Sense". A haunting song with lyrics that stick with you after it's over. Equally good are the two tracks that compose the "Dysfunction" theme "I'm a Moron" and "Normal" that show us how we feel when we make a stupid mistake in a relationship and ultimately the wonder and joy of picking up and trying again, the forgiveness. Mike's lyrics are witty as well on tracks like "Plastic Chair" and "Completely Entertained". Get this CD! It's worth the money and just the tip of the iceberg as I've been hearing stuff on his website from his second CD coming out April 4th, "The High Cost of Living (A Love Story)". Good things are coming for Mike Schmid. Be one of the people to say, I've heard him first!
I first heard of Mike Schmid from my brother quite a few years ago when Mike actually helped my brother (Dan Davis) with his second CD. When I started listening to him I was in awe of how much talent was given to one man. Mike Schmid is AMAZING. His lyrics are deep and so truthful and real, and his music is melodic and just beautiful. And even though he has made new albums in these later years, this one is my favorite and speaks to me the most.
