Customer Reviews

HIghly recommended

Great jump blues from one of the top Blues guitarists of the day. Duke is reunited with some of his Roomful of Blues alumni and they really swing on this release. One of his best.

Duke is jumpin

I had the great fortune to see Duke 7-8 times back in the mid-70s, fronting Roomful of Blues. They played the cafeteria st college, and I'd stand 10 feet in front of Duke all night and just marvel as he spun out 5 minute solos, song after song, demonstrating a huge musical vocabulary. Still my #1 choice of best band to see; they were great (I wish they were still together). And it was all jump blues, with a few slow songs mixed in. All due respect to the Album Reviewer, I always think of Duke's roots being jump blues. He started there 35 years ago, he clearly loved it and he was fantastic. It was absolutely an honor to stand so close on so many nights. Thanks to Duke, and this other fella Eric Clapton, I've been inspired to learn how to play the guitar a little myself.
Great stuff from one of the masters. If "Stomp The Blues Tonight" was 10 minutes long, even better. See him live!

Between that time, Robillard pursued a solo career that found him exploring more musically adventurous territory than either Roomful of Blues or the T-Birds. On his solo recordings, the guitarist dips into blues, rockabilly, jazz, and rock & roll, creating a unique fusion of American roots musics. In 1967, Duke Robillard formed...
