Album Review

This is hardly the definitive Rocío Dúrcal set because the Mis Favoritas series from Sony was designed to represent artists through their "favorites" and not their "chart-toppers." Still, with "Como Tu Mujer" and "La Guirnalda" on the track list, the late, great Spanish singer's supposed favorites are already aligning with her number one hits. Plus, with "Sombras Nada Más" landing toward the end of the collection, fan favorites are also recognized, but that last one is presented in its posthumous mix from the 2009 album Duetos, so expect the voice of Javier Solís and plenty of controversy from the Dúrcal purists. The version of "Si Nos Dejan" is a live recording and the liner notes are scant, meaning this set isn't a so much a primer for newcomers but an interesting, alternative overview for the established fan.
