Album Review

It differs by religion/denomination, but you don't have to run your finger too far down the Ten Commandments to see something like "You shall not make for yourself an idol." Christian hip-hop duo Social Club come with a heaping helping of swagger and enough boasting to make a politician blush, but forgive them not only because they're from the showy land of Rick Ross and Pitbull (Miami) but mostly because their pride comes from their belief in the Lord. Bangers like "Mxsfit Lxvin" and "My Life" sound like Sunday morning club tracks as bass beats and scripture quotes shoot out at high volume, but these mainstream numbers are tempered by chilled and alternative songs, like the sweet and shy "Awkward, Pt. 2" or the dreamy highlight "Burn the Bridge." The intertwining threads of a "Coogi Sweater" influence the group to write one of their best tracks to date, and with guests like Andy Mineo plus Chris Durso (Next Generation Pastor at MISFiT NYC) this already varied album winds up an all-star worship party.

Customer Reviews

My first experience with SOCIALxCLUB was about 6 weeks ago when I watched a video for Animal Kingdom. I loved it. Marty was kind of wierd and Ferns beard... I started looking into the SCMGWP movement a bit and things started getting weird. George Costanza. Power Rangers. Dudes brushing their beards out in robes in the booth. I started seeing signs. Hawaiian Punch at my kids Pizza party, chocolate bobka in my Barney Rubble, Losing Sleep because of Triple Beam Nightmares. Rappers make my head explode. All of these fake, nonsense spitting rappers today kill me, Liars, Fakes, Lames, Wouldnt bust a grape in a fruit fight, No real rep, Nothing real, No story, All manufactured persona, Weak. Not these guys though. Real people. Failures on their own. Struggling. Terrible. Forgiven. Real. Im really going to Paris in about 2 weeks. Ill be looking for Pugs twerking and pointing people to the sky. Isnt that what its all about? Everybody trying to make his name known. Even if its a Pug twerking. Sound doctrine my friends but the method is dopest... Fern.

It's a pizza party, yo. Side hugs included!

Now we wait patiently

Social club is, in fact, the best. These guys don't just make awesome music that you can blast out loud shameless, but also they are humble Christians. Happy to support them :D

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Tempering their over the top swagger with lyrics that deliver a humble worship of the Lord, Christian hip-hop duo Social Club burst out of Florida with Miami-sized beats and a string of album titles that reflected their maverick attitude. Featuring rappers F.E.R.N. and Martymar, Social Club formed in 2012 and self-released their debut album, Misfits, by the end of the year. The Rejects EP followed a year later, along with their sophomore album, Summer...
