iTunes Review

There's not a whisper of second album jitters on this follow-up from fearsomely singular childhood friends Jamie Smith, Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft. But—while opener “Angel” plays like an even leaner take on their signature witching hour sound—there’s discernible evolution in all those sonic spaces. “Reunion” boasts the unexpected calypso of synthesized steelpan, and “Our Song” is a warped, strangely intimate duet that lets Madley Croft and Sim’s vocals intertwine like tangled limbs.

Customer Reviews

The xx have done it again.

This is the best record to be release this year. Their best as well.
I like how it can be relatable in two very different ways.

A record for the loved and the lonely.

Every song sounds exactly the same. Wayyy too slow. The lyrics are great as always but the music makes me wanna fall asleep. Really hoped theyd out do their last album :/

A Masterpiece. Phenomenon. Remarkable!

Wow! I didn't expect The xx to blow me away like this. Every songs possesses a n elegant euphony you rarely find in modern music, it makes you feel infinite. Jamie xx's production elevates the mellifluous feel of the album and Romy & Oliver sultry voices give a deepening impact that feels like a earthquake in your heart. If anything this album deserves a Grammy nomination, or perhaps even a win. Standout Tracks: Fiction, Reunion, Sunset, Tides, Swept Away, Our Song, and Unfold. All in all, this album is joyous blow, that will kick your soul so deep in depth you'll drown from a this audible masterpiece. P.S. If you like this album, give Beach House's Bloom a listen I'm sure you'll feel the same way.

Atmospheric English indie pop group the xx formed in London around the talents of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Baria Qureshi, and Jamie Smith, when the bandmembers were still in high school. Captivating and cool, the group cites influences that run the gamut from R&B (Aaliyah and Rihanna) to classic alternative rock (the Cure and the Pixies). Built around the duel vocals of Croft and Sim, the group's signature brand of moody, soulful indie rock first appeared on the public radar in early 2009 with...
