Customer Reviews

best CD of '08 by far

My Hero Is Me nailed it on their full length debut. They have definitely matured alot since their EP Helen of Troy. The instruments have gotten better and more technical and the screaming along with the clean vocals have also improved. On this album it seems like they tried to have a "progressive" feel to it, as apparent in "I Studied Metal At Julliard" and "How To Hold A Ghost's Hand." Definitley recomend this. Here's a track by track review 1. Pirate's Life for Me 5/5-starts the album off nice with a sick breakdown 2. When Peter North Goes South 4.5/5-has some great guitar riffs, a good breakdown, and great vocals 3. Taylor Rain (On My Parade) 5/5-also a great song. i love the clean vocals at the beginning. one of my favorites on the album. has the best breakdown and good lyrics. 4. Be Well, John Spartan 5/5-another kickass song. sick breakdown. i like the samples at the end of the song. Daryl does some awesome screaming in this song 5. The Crywolf Broadcast 5/5-kind of starts out with a generic guitar riff, yet still is still a great song. 6. Grobe Lugner Sind Grobe Zauberer - i dont really listen to it enough to rate it...kind of annoying i usually just skip it haha. 7. I Studied Metal At Julliard 5/5-my favorite song on the album. the transition into the clean vocals is epic, and when it goes back to screaming, its also epic. 8. How To Hold A Ghost's Hand 4.5/5-starts out clean then gets heavy which is awesome. the clean vocals can get slightly slightly annoying though. 9. Missippi Blues Devil 4/5-good song, just not as good as the others on this album 10. Beautiful Mind 5/5-this song was originaly on Helen of Troy, but they rerecorded it and added a badass guitar solo in it and more clean singing. The opening breakdown is awesome, and the clean vocals are catchy and epic towards the end. one of my favorites on the album 11. Rated R for Rambunctious 5/5-sick sweeping at the beginning. sick screams. and a catchy Bon Jovi-esque "chorus" probably my second favorite on the album. It ends the alum right. so as you can see this album pwns n00bz. if your a fan of August Burns Red, Knives Exchanging Hands, MyChildren MyBride, etc, your definitely gonna wanna pick this up...if you dont buy the whole album, at least buy tracks 3, 7, 10, and 11.

Great CD!

I was really impressed how My Hero Is Me matured from Helen of Troy to this album! The songs are great, not just musically but lyrically. Plus, the CD is well worth your money with 11 songs, and a majority of them over 4 minutes long. Buy it!
