Album Review

Credit to Justin Bieber for the effort he put into Under the Mistletoe. Most artists sleepwalk through Christmas albums, but Bieber took this release so seriously that he co-wrote nine of its 15 songs and was motivated to tweet, “forget the hype...i want it to be about the music. listen to the cd. then judge me.” Bieber definitely sounds more enthused by the original songs — some of which resemble everyday numbers with patched-on seasonal references — and a cover of Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (featuring Carey herself). The versions of holiday staples are pulled off with varying results; “Little Drummer Boy” gets a goofy, modernized spin with Busta Rhymes, while “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” lifts bits of the Jackson 5's “ABC” and “I Want You Back” (rather than echoing the Jacksons' version of the song). Some of the Bieber fan base might be a little miffed that the inspirational ballad “Pray,” included on My Worlds Acoustic, makes another appearance here. There’s also the fact that Bieber (still) has yet to release a standard full-length album. He has two EP-length releases, a compilation of those two releases, a set of (mostly) acoustic versions, an EP-length remixes/documentary tie-in disc, and now a holiday album, to his name. [This deluxe edition includes a DVD with making-of-the-album footage as well as three bonus audio tracks on the expanded CD.]

Under The Mistletoe

This album is the proof everyone has been patiently waiting for. Justin Bieber's career has a future post-puberty. His voice has matured and the shift sounds effortless. These songs songs sounds much older and appeal to an older audience as well. This is a perfect opportunity for Justin to gain some fans who don't fit the 14 year old screaming girl profile. My personal favorite on the album is All I Want Is You. It shows maturity not only in the vocals but in content. Bieber has officially graduated from puppy love into the world of adulthood. I believe this album is only the beginning of a long and successful career for Justin as an adult performer.

its all right

he kinda ruined drummer boy

Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber?????

This pairing is way off vocally....ruins the song....not to mention, the fact that the two vocalists' age difference makes the song actually sound kind of creeptastic...he's in his late teens, she's in her early 40's and they're singing about how "All I Want for Christmas is You"...*shivers*

Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber was barely into his teens when he released his 2009 debut, My World, and became one of the youngest success stories in contemporary pop when it went either platinum or double platinum in several countries. For the next few years, successive releases -- including remix compilations, acoustic sets, a documentary tie-in, a Christmas album, and even some proper studio recordings -- shot forth at a dizzying rate. Bieber developed a massive global following, named Beliebers....
