Don't Let Prejudice Make You Miss Out--Hanson is Rock's Savior

Hanson is one of the few rock bands out there today that knows what they are doing. A big difference between them and artists their age is that the world actually got to witness [and enjoy] their beginning. There is nothing bad about their old material, it's just less developed because the guys were younger. Their skill, musicianship, and style flourished at a quick rate as they grew up. This is a process that all good artists go through--I say good artists because in order to achieve the musical maturity that Hanson has, you can't sacrifice elements of true style, harmony, etc. for image, profanity, and other worthless stuff like that. If the general public doesn't appreciate true talent, it's their loss.

Best of ??? I think NOT!

Hanson is an amazing rock group not only for their sheer talent, but also for their ability to persevere and create their own record company and wrest creative control from the hands of the over-active producers of Middle of Nowhere. Their sound has seriously matured, and therefore I am not quite sure why these songs and these edits were picked as "best of" These are not the versions which were the greatest hits of Hanson's songs on the charts, nor are they their best work creatively. The songs are good nonetheless, but this collection under that title undersells Hanson and their work. Also, from an editorial standpoint, I wish people would do even a tiny bit of research before making the judgement of Hanson as "One Hit Wonders" This is simply innaccurate. I don't mind criticism, but claiming they only had a single hit is entirely incorrect: Mmmbop,Where's the Love, I Will Come To You, Weird, and If Only were all hits according to the blllboard charts and I am 100 percent certain on all accounts except for If Only that they were all in the top ten of the pop charts.

The last chance for record companies to profit from Hanson...

This album was not designed by Hanson, it was a last attempt by a record label to profit off of Hanson's hit songs and a couple rarities. The music on the album is, of course, good (with the exception of the oddly placed remixes and Christmas song), but purchasing this album will just put more money in the pockets of the corporate labels. Do Hanson a favor, support them going independent and buy their self-released albums instead of playing into the hands of Island records.

Formed: 1992 in Tulsa, OK

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Sounding like a revamped Jackson 5 for the '90s, Hanson came storming out of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1997, blessed with photogenic looks and a surprisingly infectious sense of melody. Hanson had a sunny pop sense that stood in direct contrast to the gloomy grunge that had dominated the first half of the '90s, yet they also arrived with hip credentials -- a handful of the cuts on their debut were produced by the Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys, Beck, Sukia), and the rest were produced by Steve Lironi, who...
