Congratulations to the Corb Lund Band for being the first people to finally record a fairly decent re-make of the Hockey Song. When you're at a hockey arena and they play the original by Stompin' Tom Connors, nobody pays attention to the quality of music that's being played because the whole arena's singing along. Upon hearing the song without 20,000 people drowning out the words, I wasn't sure whether I was hearing the right version. To be honest, I would say that the Hockey Song is the greatest song about hockey ever written. On the other hand, I would much rather listen to the guy from the Corb Lund Band sing it than Stompin' Tom. Also, the extra bit about Fox TV and the little red lights cracks me up. Peace Out.

Corb Lund is a Canadian roots-country singer/songwriter whose third album, Five Dollar Bill (2002), established him as a favorite among critics. Prior to his mainstream breakthrough, he was a member of the Smalls, a punk rock band from Edmonton who never attained commercial success but were a regional favorite during the 1990s.
