keeping it coming

I have known these guys since before most, when they had trouble producing a solid mixed album and been screwed over and over by label after label. They have never faultered on their sound, mission, style, or views, their sound and style are just maturing and Never Back Down was a stellar album and their sophmore full-length has turned out to be an amazing edition. Despite a lead singer change with Momentum, the lyrics will speak to you and reach deep into your soul and grasp at that one thing you may have shoved away. Close To Home is soothing and therapeutic for any rock fan, not too mention some of the most honest individuals I have known in the music business and on a personal level.

Strong Album

I really miss the pop-punk aspect of Close to Home that they had on their last record which is what led me to love them. But, the breakdowns and intensity they bring to this record make up for it completely. 'Young and Stupid' has one of the band's heaviest breakdowns to date and may be one of heir heaviest songs. 'Family Ties' also has a strong breakdown that includes guest vocals from Dave and Kyle from We Came as Romans, who make the song incredible! 'Pirates Belong At Sea' may be one of the band's most unique sounding songs and may be one of my favorites on the album. If you preferred the heavier songs on "Never Back Down" then this is the album for you. However, if you preferred the pop-punk songs more, then this album may not be for you. I do suggest that you give this album a listen though, because you may enjoy it. On another note, the new vocalist Andrew DeNeef killed it on this album! He definitely filled in the shoes that were left by Nick Steins, but in my opinion Andrew's screaming is much better then Nick's which make for a better album! Definitely give this album a listen and purchase it if you enjoy it! One song to download would have to be 'Pirates Belong At Sea', because it's so different from all their previous work and is such a fun song to listen to. But if you're a new CTH fan then I suggest you download 'Backstabbers Need Not Apply', because it completely sums up what the band is about and how they sound! Overall I give this album an 8/10! Strong album and I'm super proud of these guys!

Really good
