This album is a fresh set of songs that will compliment your well worn compilation playlists of The Shins, Damien Rice, Belle & Sebastain and Doves. Some of the tracks even hint at a resemblance to Pinback and Stephen Malkmus. "To The Sea" is a comfortable tune that may be nice the Fall days of iPod trecks across your city. With a scarf. And I found "A Journey Is Just a Memory" to have that particularly loungy feel that might make one choose music over tv on a lazy weekend. This album could only be cozier if it was available on vinyl, and came with chamomile tea.

A warm shot of raw goodness!

I remember a time when the sounds of music obscurity weakened my will and my resolve, that was until I took a warm shot of raw goodness, that goodness is called "floating". This band is a tribute to every band that has given you an opportunity to push the repeat button, sit back with the stars overhead, and kick it with old friends. jape will influence your view of the colors of music. In an ocean of black, jape gives you the bright yellow liferaft we all desperately search for. Thank you jape......thank you. = )

It's worth it

I bought this album because of "floating", but all the other songs compliment this record. If I had to describe it, I would say it's the perfect album to sit down and turn on while you are having a great conversation with some friends. The Hardest thing to do is such a sad song, Reminding me is hypnotic along with floating, the rest are good too Like I said, it's worth it.

Jape is the solo project of Richie Egan, bass player with Irish instrumental rock group the Redneck Manifesto. Very much the band's musical alter ego, Jape has little in common with the Redneck Manifesto, excepting perhaps the left-field but accessible approach both take to their styles of music. Jape's music is primarily of the folky singer/songwriter mold, with alternative rock and electronic overtones, and comparisons have been made between Jape and both Beck (a noted influence) and David Kitt,...
