One of the Best Jazz Albums EVER

Where do I begin, I first heard James Moody on the Cosby Show when I was a kid and I have been hooked every since. He is one of the few artist who could jump from Swing, after playing with the Dizzy Gilspy Band, to the BeBop era, to what is now modern Jazz. He has inspired a many artist, like Qunicy Jones because Moody was thinking out side of the box back in the day. He was not re-inventing old standards, instead he was creating them. A true master musician. If you love Dave Brubreck, You will love Moody. WAIL MOODY, WAIL!

I have finally found the perfect love song.

I remember back in 1991 I was watching a Gap Commercial set in New York. This song was playing but it wasn't sung by James Moody, it was sung by King Pleasure. And of course I remember hearing it sung at the end of an episode of The Cosby Show. Moody's Mood For Love has been covered by Queen Latifah to George Benson who do the song justice.

Moody is World Class

Absolutely an essential for your jazz collection. James Moody is unique, in style, tone and technique. Instantly identifiable, Moody has only improved, like a fine wine, in the years since this recordings were stamped to vinyl. Of course, while "Moody's Mood For Love" is the most famous cut here (featuring Eddie Jefferson), the other selections are equally noteworthy. Please get this one and check out Moody's latest recording with Hank Jones ... incredible!

James Moody was an institution in jazz from the late '40s into the 21st century, whether on tenor, flute, occasional alto, or yodeling his way through his "Moody's Mood for Love." After serving in the Air Force (1943-1946), he joined Dizzy Gillespie's bebop orchestra and began a lifelong friendship with the trumpeter. Moody toured Europe with Gillespie and then stayed overseas for several years, working with Miles Davis, Max Roach, and top European players. His 1949 recording of "I'm in the Mood...
