Herdman's rich, sweet voice makes these simple lullabies seem like cozy clouds for parents and kids alike. For every parent that's cringed to Barney and Elmo, here is a disc that you might throw on long after the little one's are tucked in bed. The musicianship, with guests like fiddlemaster Jay Ungar, is first rate to boot.

Where is stardreamer!?

I grew up on these songs but where I'd my favorite stardreamer album? I used to fall asleep to it every night and now my tape has worn out!

In contrast to many of her contemporaries in folk music, Priscilla Herdman is largely an interpretive singer in the tradition of Joan Baez and Judy Collins, rather than a singer/songwriter. She has described herself as "a songfinder and interpreter of other people's music," adding, "Part of my storyfinding job is to find songs which so much deserve to be heard."
