Imaginative, lush worldly textures.
I've found Salma Har to be a pretty amazing record even after the first listen. It is an imaginative fusion of many instruments and musical styles from a lot of my favorite cultures: Africa, Cuba, Brazil, India, Middle East, as well as having a pop song form approach to most of the numbers. I'd give it 5 stars, but I wish it had some tracks with a darker edge. It's all consistently uplifting, which is cool, but I'd love to hear these global textures with some cool grit, too.
I was amazed at how great this record is. I don't think I've heard anything quite like it. So many cool worldly textures. Great for the commute in the car. Uplifting and relaxing at the same time helps the way home after work.
Inspiring and healing.
Tom Rossi is a unique and gifted individual. I've appreciated his beautiful music for years playing his kora for hospice patients in Brooklyn. This record has that quality and some very exciting numbers as well. Don't miss out on this!
