Lion Man ,

The original "masterpiece" is in here.

According to Alex Ross in the New Yorker, this collection contains the entire album as originally conceived -- but Dylan feared it was too depressing, so he went to Minnesota and pepped up the tracks that were eventually released in 1975. If you want to hear the original conception of the album, just download the following (CD-Track): 5-3, 5-5, 3-3, 5-10, 4-2, 2-5, 1-11, 4-13, 3-15 and 4-12. Ross considers the original version to be the true masterpiece of Dylan's career.

Release the liner notes

While I enjoy these Archive series it's just too much. I wish they would sell the booklet that goes with the cd's. Great in-depth info.

Great stuff, but...

After 2 hours of listening to bits and pieces of this, I was reminded why my Blood On The Tracks disc took over my turntable for about 6 nonstop weeks after it was released. Fun to hear different versions of these gems, but I have to say there was a good reason Bob and Columbia chose the tracks they did back then. There are 2-3 worthy new songs, and a few of the "new" versions were already released on other bootlegs. Still, I no way i could pass up 6 or 7 of these!
