Reseña de álbum

On Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives, Austin, TX's indie pop hopefuls Voxtrot follow up their promising debut EP with a tougher, more dramatic sound that pushes them further away from their original influences. There are louder guitars on the EP, more impassioned vocals, and more shifts in dynamics and tone. The title track sets the stage right away with reverbed guitars reeling wildly around Ramesh Srivastava's forceful vocals; "Fast Asleep" follows with spiky guitars, blaring horns, and a rock-hard chorus. Indeed, it seems that the band has shifted allegiances from U.K. indie pop to D.C. punk-pop, specifically Ted Leo. As on the band's first EP, the influences are jumping-off points rather than blueprints to follow, and Voxtrot play with enough passion and energy to make it their own. The EP will only be a disappointment to fans who wanted another indie pop confection; those who can follow along with the band's shift will be pleased by the sprightly sound and first-rate indie rock songcraft. Still a band to pin hopes on, Voxtrot have a chance to develop into a truly interesting group. This EP is a solid step in that direction.

baby, i'd leave you for the person you used to be.

I have waited a ridiculous amount of time for iTunes to FINALLY get this EP! I love Voxtrot to death, and their debut was almost obscenely great, but this one just puts it to shame. My favorite song of all time, "Soft & Warm", is a warm, almost Hush Sound-esque side of Voxtrot, with a crisp, upbeat sound. "Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives" is another favorite of mine, though it sounds like it belongs on their last EP, with the crackling intro and indie feel. Overall, there's not a single song on this EP I wouldn't sell my soul for. Not even kidding.

Although i would reccomend to download all of the songs on this album, my favorites are: Mothers, Sisters, Daughters and Wives, Your biggest fan, and Soft and Warm! You wont be dissappointed and this is NOT a waste of your money!

Although they hail from Texas, Voxtrot's animated indie pop easily receives comparisons to Belle & Sebastian and similar European groups. In between studying in Scotland, frontman Ramesh Srivastava founded the project and soon decided to pursue the band full-time in Austin, TX, being joined by Jared Van Fleet (guitar/keyboard), Matt Simon (drums), Mitch Calvert (guitar), and Jason Chronis (bass). Garnering considerable buzz from bloggers as well as high-profile magazines before even releasing...
