A Real Review

There is some fun music on here, the reading of a very interesting poem, and Moe Tucker on some background vocals. What more can someone interested in avant guarde music ask for. Movement 2 from Eat is the poem. Speaking of fun, start off on Kiss 06- (Quartet, Moe- Harpsichord, Tiye- Percussion). First you might want to look up the subtitles, they say what each song is about, and give you more info than just the number of the movement. For instance, #2 is actually titled Kiss 02 - Frozen Warning, Jimmy, Metal-Violin Solo - David, Tiyé (Backing Vocal). Basically this means that Jimmy sings "frozen warning" while Tiyé backs him, and others join on guitar and various synths for a total of around 7:33. Altogether, I would suggest listening to the previews for yourself and then pick a couple for fun. For the full experience I would suggest finding the films and then trying them with the soundtrack. Very crazy. Warhol was genius...

Much has been made of his schooling in classical and avant-garde music, yet much of what he's recorded has been decidedly song-oriented, dovetailing close to the mainstream at times. Terming him a forefather of punk and new wave isn't exactly accurate, either. Those investigating his work for the first time under that premise may be surprised...
