iTunes Review

Coming out of Flushing, Queens, Y@k Ballz hit the scene at the tail end of the '90s. He was just 16, working at the legendary NYC hip-hop hotspot Footwork and making waves in the underground battle circuit. His debut 12-inch, "Homepiss," came out on Bobbitto's Fondle 'Em label, introducing listeners to his oddball flow and over-the-top lyricism. Deals with other indie powerhouses like Def Jux and Eastern Conference followed, and he was also drafted into The Weatherman collective (with Cage, Aesop Rock, Camu Tao, and El-P, among others). Originally released in 2004, My Claim is his first full-length. It's produced almost entirely by Mondee, who provides a wealth of funked-out, loop-centric beats. Y@k's bizarro wordplay touches on everything from pimps and partying to The Box and Star Wars, all delivered in a freaky nasal style that's completely his own. Highlights include "Queens Life," "Pimped Out," and the title track.

hiphop lovers; BUY THIS ALBUM

Yakballz has his own unique sound that is different from anyone in underground hiphop. His lyrics are witty and interesting while all of his beats are tight. If skeptical buy "Spy On You" and "No Esacpe" I personally love the whole album, so give it a listen!!!

Don't throw that round, for some reason I always come back to this cd. It's perfect all around, production on point and lyrics for days. I've owned this cd for years, sorry for the late review

Yaaaaak Baaaaallz!! Yaaaaaak Baaaallz!!

Yak has a cool unique style. I seen him in concert and it was off the richter. Check out his new cd Scifentology.

A cocksure yet unconventional MC, Yashar Zadeh, better known as Yak Ballz, was born to Iranian immigrants in Manhattan, NY, though he was raised by his mother in Queens. Zadeh fully began to write rhymes at age 15 and later obtained a high school internship at a hip-hop record and paraphernalia store owned by underground hip-hop tastemaker Bobbito Garcia. With successful runs at several battle-rap ciphers under his belt, Yak found a couple of DJs who were prepared to release a mixtape featuring his...
