Album Review

With their hybrid of uplifting pop gems and ability to make fun of their pop-culture and indie-scenester surroundings, it's no wonder why everyone loved Tuscadero. Besides, how could anyone not like a band that takes their name from a classic Happy Days episode? This debut EP is the start of Tuscadero's aforementioned trademark that's escorted with melodic female vocals and a punky undertone. It's no Blast Off Country Style, nor is it any "Hollywood Handsome," but it's definitely the sign of better things to come.

Tuscadero was one of a legion of cutesy punk-pop bands to emerge in the mid-'90s. Taking their inspiration from '70s junk culture and sugar-coated childhoods, the Washington DC-based quartet crafted punk-pop paens to television (they took their name from Suzi Quatro's Happy Days character Leather Tuscadero), teenage crushes and problems with parents.
