Album Review

Fittingly for an album called Mumbo Jumbo, Air Supply do employ some smoke and mirrors on their 2010 album — perhaps more than any of their previous albums, dabbling with a variety of textures and rhythms. Although their touch remains decidedly light, this isn’t merely a collection of romantic ballads: it opens with the spooky prog pomp of “Setting the Seen”; “A Little Bit of Everything” pulsates with the clean sheen of the late ‘80s; they work up a fairly good head of steam on “Me Like You”; they get a little dirty on the slow groove of “Lovesex”; “Until” approaches the baroque; and even on something as soft as “A Little Bit More,” the acoustic guitars are unadorned in a way Air Supply never have tried. While none of the songs approach the skyscraping hooks of their soft rock classics, this isn’t the sound of a band resting on its laurels; if anything, this is one the group’s most adventurous records, which may also be why it’s one of Air Supply's best.

Superb! Have Faith in Love and Air Supply!

Finally after 7 years from Air Supplys cd "Across the Concrete Sky" which also told a story as well as Grahams "Future" CD. this CD Mumbo Jumbo also tells a story. It is from the mind and heart of Graham Russell who uses every bit of heart, soul, mind and fever for love that fills him. One must really dig deep into your won heart to fully understand the power of his mind when he writes lyrics. Graham Russell is truly the best. The orchestra in the song "Can I be your lover" is simply beautiful, the songs is one of those truly "deep" songs that whispers true love between two people as one person asks permission to the other "Can I be? Will you lay your head right Next to me"? The song is so powerful and is one of my favorites on the CD. "Faith In Love" ROCKS and the songs really gets your body rocking. "Dance with me" the newly released track of the CD is on the AC charts now and it is a pleasure feel good song. I feel as though "Dance with me" truly delivers! The guitar and drums sound fabulous and the song ROCKS! Another song that really brings out the deep beauty of music is the song "Until". "Why" is a song written for a wedding for two people Graham new back in early 2000's, The original was recorded with the Celtic Tenors and the harmony within this song was truly amazing with the Tenors. With Graham and Russell Hitchcock singing "Why" does bring back the 80's magic with a perfect harmony between this duo that has earned them the right to be called the masters of ballads.

This CD "MUMBO JUMBO" delievers on all fronts of the word love. It is powerful, imaginative and ground breaking. Most artists dig through 1000's of songs looking for track add ons or do not write anything...they just get behind a mic and sing. AIR SUPPLY does not do that here and it shows. Air Supply writes there own music and lyrics and places strings perfectly where they need to be. With Graham Russell writing and Russell Hitchcock Singing the two together bring melody and magic to music! I just wish Air Supply would record more CDS! Well done Gentlemen of Air Supply! I am glad to see you back on the charts...we've missed you!

Sorry, guys. Though I am a huge fan of Air Supply and this album of new material is welcomed, the quality of songs is disappointing. Only one song, maybe two at best, are really worth listening to.

This is a New Air Supply for the masses! These guys are ( AND have been for some time now) doing what THEY want to do on their own terms. And IT IS WONDERFUL!!! Short and to the point; that's my opinion and this is the best I've heard...the fact that it is a concept album and there is a story being told here really pulls you in. And if you've lived long enough, & experienced "life" and all it's relationship pitfalls/ high-points....AND really listen to the'll find this a truly enjoyable CD. Nothing sappy's real and from the heart.

Despite what some have said about Russell Hitchcock's vocals; he's stronger than ever !!! Enough said! Thank you !!

With their heavily orchestrated, sweet ballads, the Australian soft rock group Air Supply became a staple of early-'80s radio, scoring a string of seven straight Top Five singles. Air Supply, for most intents and purposes, was the duo of vocalists Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell; other members came through the group over the years, yet they only functioned as backing musicians and added little to the group's sound. Hitchcock and Russell met while performing in a Sydney, Australia, production...
