Album Review

Pairing the Muppets with classic and original Christmas songs is a good enough idea that even The Muppets Green and Red Christmas' more obvious moments, like Miss Piggy's version of "Santa Baby," are still pretty fun. The more inspired tracks, such as Electric Mayhem Band's swinging take on "'Zat You, Santa Claus?" and Fozzie Bear, Statler & Waldorf's goofy sketch-song "North Pole Comedy Club," will delight Muppets fans of all ages. A little too much schmaltziness and slickness keep this album from the brilliantly quirky, sweet heights of the Muppets' best albums, but it's still enjoyable.

Christmas With the Muppets: How Can You Resist?

Finally, maybe this Christmas I'll get to hear a Muppet song on the radio that's NOT with John Denver! I love all of the songs on this CD, and I especially love the fact that both Dr. Teeth and Rowlf are back. The only thing that I just can't get out of my head is the fact that most of my favorite characters have been replaced with different actors! Nothing is as good as the original, but I know that no one can bring back Jim Henson or Richard Hunt (sad as that is), and no amount of begging would get Frank Oz back either. However, Steve Whitmire rules as Kermit, and who can't love Bill Barretta as Pepe singin' "Merry Christmas Baby", okay? Some of the songs get sort of annoying, but if you love the Muppets, definitely get this album for your holiday collection. It ain't too shabby.

i hope iTunes adds more muppet songs and movies. like from the original muppet movies. like "the muppet movie" songs.

Not that good

My favorite has got to be John Denver and the Muppets. I miss John's voice with these tracks!

Cute and quirky with songs to match, Jim Henson's Muppets have been responsible for over three decades of children's entertainment that isn't just for kids. Alongside Sesame Street, which was aimed at younger children and also created many iconic kids' TV characters, the Muppets who appeared on The Muppet Show and in the Muppets' films had a more sophisticated, wittier look and sense of humor. Artist/puppeteer Henson created a rough version of the most famous Muppet, Kermit the Frog, in 1955 for...
