They've Actually Gotten Worse Live

They've Actually Gotten Worse Live

Recorded live at Slim’s in San Francisco in late January 2007, They’ve Actually Gotten Worse Live—with a title playing on the band’s 1996 concert album I Heard They Suck Live—shows NOFX’s devotion to the type of punk shows its members experienced as teenagers: loud, reckless, and fueled by illicit substances. As is typical for a NOFX concert, this recording features plenty of sloppy banter, and the names and references in several songs are altered for maximum comedy. It's all part of the album’s charm. The songs are delivered with supreme force for the purpose of pure fun. Among the classics are “You’re Wrong,” “The Longest Line,” “Green Corn," and “What’s the Matter with Parents Today?” In the live setting, the group adopts the swashbuckling disposition of The Clash, as tempos shift and bits of lead guitar shoot out of the songs like bottle rockets. The album’s secret weapon is beloved guitarist El Hefe, who can also be heard playing an impressively nimble trumpet on several songs.
